Jharkhand, one of the 29 states of India, was carved out from the southern part of Bihar on 15 November 2000. It is bordered by West Bengal to the north, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to the west, Odisha to the south and Bihar to the east. The capital city is Ranchi and Jamshedpur is the largest industrial city in the state. According to Census 2011, it has a population of 33,75,572 with a population density of 309 people per square kilometre.


Raj Bhavan

This majestic Raj Bhavan is situated at Ranchi in Jharkhand and it is one of beautiful buildings in India. This Raj Bhavan was built during 18th century by British authorities. A large number of trees are planted here which create a green environment in it. In 2012, new elements were incorporated into it by adding glass tiles. It has two towers known as clock tower and dak bungalow and these towers can be seen from any part of city, even from away places. The architecture of its building and aesthetic surrounding beautify it. Chandrashekhar Azad Park: For those who are interested in picnic spots then they should visit Chandrashekhar Azad Park which is located at Dhanbad Jharkhand. There is a big pond inside park that attracts a lot of visitors for fishing activity all year round. Also there is an artificial waterfall also located inside park that attracts people who love to enjoy with waterfalls due to its spectacular view. Parasnath temple: Another most famous tourist attraction place in Jharkhand state is Parasnath temple that offers many spiritual facilities like Kirtan, Bhajans and other activities which attract lots of devotees on every Monday throughout year.


Buddha Vihar

Buddh Vihar is a temple in Ranchi, India. The design was inspired by Bodh Gaya, where Buddha attained enlightenment. The temple has been built with extensive use of wood and stones in a unique fusion style. It is spread over 13 acres with 25 metre height statue inside and a small lake in front. The main chapel houses a colossal seated image of Lord Buddha facing eastwards towards his Holy Land-India. Apart from it there are temples dedicated to various deities such as Sai Baba and Jain Temple depicting various events from their lives along with idols of other deities. There is also an amphitheatre which hosts different cultural programs throughout year including classical music concerts and dance performances.


Science City

The Science City in Ranchi is popularly known as Vigyan Bhawan (Abode of Science). It houses many research institutes and has large collections of books on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The place also has multimedia exhibitions about science. It was established by Dr A P J Abdul Kalam in 2002. Established with a mission to inculcate scientific temper among school students and enrich their understanding through exposure to scientific concepts, it conducts activities in two different centers. The Science Promotion Centre is focused on creating awareness among rural population while Science City Centre is aimed at promoting scientific development among urban children. More than 4 million people visit these places every year. Apart from entertaining guests, all these places perform educational roles for various states, like Odisha, Jharkhand and even outside India, such as Bangladesh and Nepal.


IMAX, Ranchi

The IMAX, Ranchi is a multiplex located in City Center Mall at Ranchi. It was opened on 29 December 2006 and is an India's first 2K digital theatre. It has two screens with a total seating capacity of 820 seats. The hall also has 3D projection system (Real D) and has Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound system. This hall also features stadium seating, to give patrons with good views even when standing in rear rows of all auditoriums, like most ICS theatres in India do and show international films in Hindi version along English versions as well, while showing them in 2D format.


New Secretariat Building

A multi-story building designed by renowned British architect Herbert Baker, who also designed India Gate and Connaught Place. The colonial structure is found in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand. Construction started in 1920 and was completed five years later in 1925. Today, it houses administrative offices for state officials and ministers. Here's a picture below to get a better idea of what it looks like.


District Courts Building, Ranchi

District Courts Building is located at Ranchi, Jharkhand. The district court building was constructed in 1958. Its construction began with a budget of Rs 22 lakhs and eventually cost more than Rs 12 crore to build. In its prime, judges used to come here on horseback from Muruar railway station which was 10 kilometres away from Ranchi city center. The building has been a witness to many historic events since it was constructed in 1958 till now. District courts building has two entrances that were built as gateways similar to gateways found in Taj Mahal. These doorways are equipped with classical carvings and adornments that give it an elegant look not commonly found on other government buildings anywhere else in India or for that matter anywhere else in Asia. Hence, district courts building stands tall among other buildings in Jharkhand State.


International Cricket Stadium, Ranchi

International Cricket Stadium is an Indian cricket stadium located in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The ground first held a One Day International (ODI) match when India hosted Pakistan on 22 January 1998. In 2010, it was included as one of nine venues for Indian Premier League matches held in South Africa. The stadium also hosted a total of 6 matches during World Cup 2016 including India's final group stage match against UAE on 24 March 2016. Apart from cricket matches, numerous musical concerts have been hosted by it as well which include 2-2 (Madonna and Ricky Martin), On 18 October 2012, 50 Cent performed there along with Trey Songz and DJ Whoo Kid. Other artists to perform at this venue are Jay Sean, Shaan, Shubha Mudgal etc. 

The total capacity of Ranchi Cricket Ground is around 70,000 people.


Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ranchi

It is a four-storey building constructed in neo-Gothic style with a blend of modern architecture. This Cathedral has two spires, one on each side at both ends. It was consecrated by Bishop Rene Fuga, Suffragan Bishop of Ranchi and placed under his patronage in 1952. The cathedral has a seating capacity for 2,000 people and was inaugurated by Cardinal Louis Mathieu-Daudé on 17 December 1971. Sacred Heart Cathedral is situated at Mahatma Gandhi Marg, opposite to Sri Aurobindo Ashram Gate No. 4, Ranchi. Bishop’s House or Red House: It is a three storied building inside Church complex, used as Residence of Bishop. Convent: Adjoining to main Church in its East direction, it was originally built as Seminary but now houses different wings including St Anthony's School. Later it served as Superior General's residence (1970–85) and later again Vice-president's residence (1985–94). St Jude’s Hospital Complex: At present being taken over from Diocese by Government of Jharkhand for public use into Hospital which will be run as Hospital Authority when completed next year.


Gateway of India, Ranchi

Being constructed in year 1914, it is commonly known as Willingdon Gateway. The architecture of gateway displays Indo-Saracenic style and was built in memory of Lord George Nathaniel Curzon. During 1937-1938, its dome and minarets were painted blue by British officer Norman Pailthorpe, who was posted at Ranchi during that time period. This is one among top 9 famous buildings of Jharkhand. The city is a major rail junction with a large yard, which houses an electric locomotive shed. Several important railway lines intersect at Purulia Junction: Chord line between Adra on Grand chord/Grand Chord system and Midnapore on Eastern Bengal Railway (1379 mm gauge). Old Grand chord connects to Chord line near Kirton Point station. Chakradharpur Humsafar Express goes through Purulia junction 

and purulia railway station serves daily connections to Kolkata suburban services like Sealdah Rajdhani Express etc.
